Trade organizations provide more than just industry support and advocacy. They publicize job and economic growth. They provide information related to worker safety, technological and environmental challenges and advances, and content that informs not just industry insiders but the public at large.
These are some of the reasons why those of us who ply our trade at Columbia Precast Products are proud of our membership in the Pacific Northwest Precast Concrete Association (PNPCA).
The PNPCA is a precast concrete marketplace advocacy organization made up of industry colleagues spread across three American states (Washington, Oregon, Idaho) and one Canadian province (British Columbia).
According to the PNPCA, the association exists “to exchange industry knowledge and information, secure efficient cooperation between the concrete products industry and engineers, developers and governmental agencies, and to advocate and encourage constant improvements of practices for the purpose of developing a high product quality.”
Thus, by joining forces — our production, engineering, and design expertise alongside PNPCA’s commitment to quality and advocacy — we’re able as a company to champion, initiate, and implement efficiencies into our processes that often have industry-wide ramifications.
Columbia Precast Products is an active member of the PNPCA and a regular presence on its committees. This helps us stay informed about and in touch with our partners, contractors, builders, governmental entities, and more.
Our membership in the Pacific Northwest Concrete Association continues to bear fruit. We share knowledge and insights and receive the same in return. Our work with the PNPCA has helped forge valuable and lasting partnerships with the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) and the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT).
It has also helped spark much-needed conversations about the precast concrete industry’s role in planning for and building out the infrastructural future in the Pacific Northwest.
Through the relationships we’ve built and nurtured at the PNPCA, we’ve participated in conversations about such wide-ranging but related topics as public transportation, stormwater management, product safety, marketing, and more.
We’re happy to be a part of the PNPCA, and we look forward to many years of fruitful and productive conversations with the association, other companies, firms, and individuals, and with the broader community in which we all live and work.
